the holidays are upon us! chanukkah came quite early this year, but we managed to throw together our annual party to celebrate the 3rd night with friends. i made my aunt’s sufganiyot recipe again (jelly-filled doughnuts!) and a “healthy” version of latkes with zucchini and carrots. latke toppings this year included the traditional applesauce, sour cream and a little south-of-the-border action w/avocado, cilantro, and queso fresco for a festive mex-anukkah menu. we lit the candles in a tinfoil menorah and spun the dreidel for pocket change, just like last year! then we sang along to the hits from fiddler on the roof on youtube! TRADITION!!! what a night!!! i’m still in a fried food coma. happy chanukkah, everyone!
