i don’t want to hate on the bay area, but the shopping is infinitely better in LA. sorry folks, it’s the honest truth! take iko iko for example- an inconspicuous storefront across from an exotic fish aquarium stocked with wabi-sabi japanese housewares, locally made clothing, jewelry, ceramics, vintage books, fabric, and other covetable objects. i got myself this lunar calendar i’d been eyeing on etsy, some porcelain beads, and fell in love with this incredible chain & solder jewelry by hannah keefe. and on top of it all, the owner kristin was the sweetest, friendly shop-owner we’ve met in a long time! there is still hope for retail!!!
