father & son

May 29, 2011

last night i finally got around to watching alamar. it’s about this time of year that i’m either traveling or preparing for a trip, and this just confirmed the fact that i will never, ever curb my itch to travel! a father and his young son, who lives with his mother in italy, embark on a summer of fishing with their grandfather on the banco chinchorro caribbean coral reef just off the coast of mexico. it’s slow, but that’s how life is down there. turquoise waves. purple sunsets. diving for lobsters. cleaning the boat. befriending birds. THE SEA. it’s the most beautifully shot film i have seen in quite a while. check it out on netflix, especially if you’re not taking a vacation this year :)
