jamie & erin at the adventure store invited me to the opening of press: works on paper, their friends’ paper shop over on 22nd and dolores on friday. we got there a bit late (1st stop was the oakland museum’s hay fever!), but the crowd was still packed into the space even at 9:30! munching on meatballs, cupcakes, and chocolate covered twinkies, everyone perused the various paper goods- from notebooks, pens and pencils to rare fashion and art books, vintage classics, wrapping paper, and origami kits. the collections are eye-pleasing and so thoughtfully put together. there was even a book-making section including all kinds of supplies! work by paper-cut artist tahiti pehrson hung on the walls and the general vibe was so lovely and positive. and nico was happy because he ran into a dude he met in new york who he saw take a shot of candle wax by mistake. ouch!
stay tuned for a closer look at press: works on paper…can’t wait to go back and stick my nose in a few books. and props to erin & gao gao, who did an awesome job w/the party-planning. don’t you just want to fill your bathtub with gravel & succulents now?!
