I have been pretty much just been dancing since my last post… which is why nothing has been happening here at BIG THINGS. No but really, I have been dancing a lot– salsas, merengues, cumbias. And because of all the dancing that I have been doing, I am finally feeling energized to continue posting and sharing. I miss you guys! So this is quite a random one, but in going through the University of Chicago Photographic Archive, I came across these images of formal dances from the 1950s and before. I am really enjoying the awkward radiance and arm placement in the portraits of the ladies; the innocently dirty thoughts on the mind of the kid seated with his date on the stairs; the dorky turquoise off-the-shoulder gowns. Anyone care to dance?
